A NOTE FROM GARY LEVINSON

My Dear Friends:
After a trying 2020, I can’t contain my excitement for our in-person reopening in 2021! We are back, dare I say, better than ever! This season will thrill you with the world-class performances that you have come to expect from CMSFW. We have been hard at work to reschedule the performers you were looking forward to last season, and I am personally delighted that we have many of them on this season’s menu.
I would direct your attention to a very familiar audience favorite, the Dover String Quartet. Hailed as the heir apparent to the Guarneri Quartet, this incredible group of musicians is now the inaugural Penelope P. Watkins Ensemble in Residence at the Curtis Institute of Music and is one of the most sought-after chamber music groups on the major stages of the world. The Quartet was recently featured in the award-winning documentary by Ward Serrill called “The Bowmakers”, highlighting the role of the bow in the life of a world-class string player. Another spectacular artist making his debut is Dénes Várjon, a marvelous Hungarian pianist whose regular chamber music collaborators include Joshua Bell, Stephen Isserlis, and Leonidas Kavakos.
At this time, I ask that you drop everything and subscribe! We have the sort of season planned that will make you forget the hardships of the past year. But keeping in mind that our intimate auditorium is just 225 seats makes the urgency of re-subscription even more immediate. We so look forward to reconnecting with all of you in person, at the pre-concert talks with our stalwart partners, Laurie Shulman and Till Meyn tag-teaming with yours truly, as well as after our concerts.
Subscribing could not be easier whether you go to our website, cmsfw.org, or call 817-877-3003, 24/7, to make sure you do not miss one note of live music which has been such a sorely missed aspect of our lives for over a year. Be sure to relive our virtual concerts on the CMSFW YouTube channel which is being constantly updated with new performances and educational events. Just go to “YouTube” and search “chamber music society fort worth” — it’s that simple!
I wish you a healthy and exciting summer. See you in September 2021 for the first live concert of this year.
Warmly,
Gary Levinson, Artistic Director
Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth
